Pop-Up Visit to the Bennington Museum!

Thursday, September 23 @ 10 a.m.
Meet in the Museum lobby

Please join Althea and Carolyn to view Robert Frost, “At Present in Vermont.” The exhibition celebrates and explores the local legacy of Robert Frost’s years in Shaftsbury from 1920 – 1938. In addition to letters, manuscripts, and special editions are paintings and writings of Frost’s artist friends including Charles Burchfield, Rockwell Kent, Dorothy Canfield Fisher, and more. Curator Jamie Franklin has agreed to meet with us briefly to answer questions about the exhibit.

After visiting effervescent Jasen in the colorful gift shop, we can walk or drive to the nearby Loose Cannon for late breakfast/early lunch.

We have enough Bennington Museum passes for everyone, so non-members won’t have to pay an entrance fee. However, if you’re not a museum member, you may want to consider joining.  We have enjoyed supporting the museum as well as the benefits offered to members.

Please email Thea if you wish to attend, 4emmalulu@gmail.com.  We’ll send a reminder email to you before the event.

P.S. Here is the description of the exhibit from the Museum’s website:

Just over 100 years ago Robert Frost arrived in Bennington County, where he lived in South Shaftsbury from 1920 to 1938. This exhibition celebrates and explores the local legacy of America’s most beloved poet.

From this new home base, Frost travelled often for readings and academic appointments across the country. Vermont became a “strategic retreat” where he could write, and connect with nature, family, and a circle of friends that included many other talented artists and writers.
