January Branch Program: Scribble Sisters Reading & Discussion of Scratchings 4

Join us on Saturday, January 29, at 2:00 pm (Link: bit.ly/AAUWBennProgram) for Readings from Scratchings 4 by many of the authors, the Scribble Sisters:  Susan Blandy, Althea Church, Claudia Dalton, Marianne DeKoven, Margaret Howland, Wilma Johnson, Suzanne Kirkpatrick, Judy Kniffin, Ruth Olsson, Jeanne Rogers, Nancy Schoerke, Kathy Wagenknecht and Berta Winiker.

The Scribble Sisters are a group of members who enjoy writing in a variety of styles and genres from memoirs to poetry. They meet twice a month in members’ homes (or recently on Zoom) to mentor one another and enjoy the company of other writers. They published their first book, Scratchings, in June, 2018.  (For a discussion of the origins and activities of Scribble Sisters, view the video created by Jennie Schoerke and distributed by CAT-TV.)

Scratchings 4, published in October, 2021, was written entirely during the Covid-19 pandemic. Additionally, we saw a contentious election, an insurrection, an inauguration, an impeachment, a vaccination, and the resurgence of the infection and death toll from a new version of Covid-19, the Delta Variant, allowed to flourish among the unvaccinated.

You will find many of these themes explored in Scratchings 4, interleaved with memories of childhood, family, and past pleasures.

By purchasing a copy of Scratchings 4, you are making a donation to the Branch Scholarship fund, supporting AAUW Branch members, and giving yourself a treat.  Click here for ordering information and a preview of  Scratchings 4.
