In addition to the enjoyment and socializing, which are the main goals of the June pot luck, each year there is a short business meeting to elect officers to fill any vacant positions. This year Kathy Wagenknecht will continue as president, Julie Mackaman will continue as secretary, but we need to confirm a new treasurer since Norma McShane will be leaving that office. The Nominating Committee is currently working on filling that position and should have a name to present by June 19.

We are also looking for people to help with other branch tasks.

          Newsletter: 

Dawn Rodrigues needs someone to help with the newsletter. Gudrun Hutchins will continue as a feature writer, but not as co-editor. Ideally. this would be someone who is interested in learning to use the newsletter software, but this is not essential,  as there are other tasks necessary such as finding authors for newsletter columns, sending a call for copy with a due date to potential contributors; and contributing  articles to some editions.

Also, since we have been enjoying the bios of new members, another task for the co-editor might be to contact members and ask if they would be willing to interview and write a bio of a new member. When we finish with the new members, we might  extend the practice to doing descriptions of old members so the new members can learn about them. The co-editor would, also, have to keep track of who already has a bio completed and who still needs one.

 Program Committee

The Program Committee is looking for potential members.  Join the committee,  suggest program topics, and take the lead on one or two of the seven or so programs of the year. Recently,  the Program Committee has changed so that no one member of the committee is responsible for all programs. The point person for the committee — who would also serve on the Branch Leadership Board — would be chosen at the first meeting of the group.

Membership or Hospitality Committees

You might also want to help with Membership or Hospitality. The Membership Committee recruits and communicates with prospective members; Hospitality Committee members help with refreshments for branch events.
