Book Group Returns to Arlington Library

Our first day for resuming our  in-person Book Group will be July 21, 12:00 noon.  Bring your own lunch.  Book Group Discussion after lunch: The Agitators: Three Friends Who Fought for Abolition and Women’s Rights by Dorothy Wickenden (suggested by Nancy Schoerke).

Margaret Howland has read the book and will lead the discussion.  Margaret describes it as “an entertaining tale of three women who have been overlooked to some degree in the many books about women helping women and families move north during the pre-Civil War period.” It is an unusual story of and information about Abraham Lincoln makes the book even more interesting.  The New York Times reviewed the book and compared the writing to that of Doris Kearns Goodwin and David McCullough.
