This message is a heartfelt “thank you” to our Silent Angels and to all those who contributed to the Marge Carter Book Fund this year.
Silent Angels individually donate $100 annually toward scholarships for Non-Traditional Women Students to assist them in seeking a college education. There were 18 Silent Angels this year, yielding $1800.
With the ever-increasing cost of books for our scholarship recipients, all branch members were invited to contribute to the Marge Carter Book Fund this year. (Note: Marge was the founding member of the AAUW Book Group.) A total of $310 was raised. Marge’s husband Bob has consistently added to the book fund since her death in 2011, generally matching branch donations. This year it was $300.
In the past we have also benefited from additional sources, including fundraisers from public meetings and theatre outings, which did not occur this year because of Covid-19. However, some funds remain in the Scholarship Account for the future. Many thanks to all for your generosity in making this funding possible. We always welcome new donors.
