Our Year of Programs

This year the committee planned and carried out the programs listed below.

September—Scholarship Fundraiser at Oldcastle Theatre.. Shakespeare’s Wife, a one woman show that portrayed  Anne Hathaway’’s experiences living at home in Stratford  with the children as Will went off to London to write and stage his plays.

October—“Rosie’s Mother,” presentation by Carrie Brown from  the Vermont Humanities Council, held at the UU Fellowship Meetinghouse 

November—Tony Marro on “Women’s Contributions in WWII” at BPAC

December — Virtual  Holiday celebration. Our plans to meet at the Barn had to be changed  due to an escalation of the pandemic.  Instead, we had a Zoom Read-Around with Holiday selections.

January 2022–Branch program: Scribble Sisters Reading & Discussion of Scratchings 4

February—Public program, initial session of Great Decisions series from the Foreign Policy Assn. Topic:  Putin’s Russia.  Co-hosted by UUFB and held at the Meetinghouse or/and on Zoom.  After this program, following sessions will be considered an interest group.

March—The annual luncheon was postponed and combined with the June picnic. Public program: Affordable and Efficient Housing in Bennington, held at the Barn, Speakers: Catherine Bryars, BCRC, and Madison Kremer, Shires Housing.

April—Women in Politics, featuring the 4 women running for the open US House of Representatives seat. Panel discussion on Zoom, focusing on what it is like to be a woman in politics rather than on their platforms. 

May—Judith Schwartz on Climate Change issues, based on her research and books about water and agricultural practices.  Public meeting at UUFB

June—Luncheon (catered buffet) at the Barn, with the annual meeting and presentation of scholarships.
