The Freedom to Read: A Panel Discussion

This panel discussion, composed of area librarians, will explore the complex topic of intellectual freedom, including its history, recent challenges, and ways in which the public can help preserve this fundamental right.
Panelists:
Karson Kiesinger – BA, MA, MLIS – is the Reference and Adult Services Librarian at the Bennington Free Library.
Jennie Rozycki – BA, MLIS – is the Director of the John G. McCullough Free Library in North Bennington.
Wendy Sharkey – MS from Cranfield University – is a recent graduate of the University of North Texas where she received her MLIS degree. Intellectual freedom and the freedom to read featured heavily in her courses and are subjects that are on every librarian’s radar.
Oceana Wilson – Dean of the Library at Bennington College – currently serves as the President of the Vermont Library Association. Read her article about Banned Books.
