by Jan Day
Although she grew up in Rye, New York, Jennifer has spent a large part of her life in New England. That included Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and ultimately retirement in Vermont in 1995 where her husband has family.
Always being a hands on person, Jennifer made this her approach in her teaching career and volunteer activities which spanned many age groups. This worked especially well when applied to her home economics classes in the diversity of projects she offered her students.
Jennifer is also someone who wants to be involved and contributing where ever she is. Her more than 25 years of involvement with Bennington AAUW is a prime example. She’s been President, an attendee at state and National conventions, membership committee chair for our branch as well as for the state organization and since 2007 scholarship committee chair for our branch.
Meeting and interviewing deserving scholarship recipients has been a most rewarding experience for Jennifer. Always going above and beyond, she’s even attended their graduations. Jennifer is to be appreciated as one of our most dedicated members.
