Branch Programs for Fall, 2020

AAUW Branch Programs  (for information on accessing a meeting on ZOOM, click here)

Saturday, September 19, 2020  at noon: Sack-Lunch Picnic at Willow Park
Let’s picnic!  Let’s enjoy one another’s company! Even though we can’t have our traditional pot-luck, we can get together.  We’ve reserved a pavilion at Willow Park for our group. (Note: There are two pavilions at Willow Park. Our group has reserved the upper pavilion, the one accessed by East Road.) The pavilion is under an open air roof, with plenty of room for us to spread out and social distance. Bottles of water will be available.  We’ll have a short branch meeting and have plenty of time to chat and even play board games. Bring your favorite game and play with a small group at your table.

Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 7:00 pm: Candidates’ Forum via Zoom (LINK: bit.ly/AAUWCandidatesForum)
AAUW continues its tradition of having a non-partisan voter forum. As it has for every assembly race in Bennington since 2006,  AAUW gives the public a chance to meet the candidates for state legislature from  Bennington. The candidates and the moderator will all participate in a ZOOM meeting; viewers can watch the event live on ZOOM or on CAT-TV live or on re-broadcasts.

Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 7:00 pm: Voter Suppression Discussion on Zoom (LINK: bit.ly/AAUWSuppressed)
Join us for a discussion of “Suppressed 2020: The Fight to Vote.” This documentary, which you should view before the meeting, weaves together personal stories from voters across the state of Georgia and beyond to paint a picture of voter suppression in the 2018 midterm election, and afterwards. It includes the story of Stacey Abrams, who fought for, but lost, the chance to become the first Black female governor.  AAUW is encouraging everyone to support voting rights for all. See “Where We Stand: Voting Rights.Additional information will be included in the next newsletter.

Saturday, November, 14 2020 at 2:00 pm: “A Woman, Ain’t I” — Sojourner Truth Re-enactment via Zoom (Link: bit.ly/AAUWBenn-S-Truth)
